GYEONGSANGBUK-DO WEATHER
It is a place with a spectacular view of steep cliffs and old pine trees, and is also called Jacheondae (Jacheondae) because it is said that the sky fell on its own. However, Chae Deuk-gi engraved the words ‘Daemyeongcheonji (大明天地) Sungjeong Ilwol (崇禎日月)’ and renamed it Gyeongcheondae. Muwoojeong (舞雩亭), a pavilion built by Woodam Chae Deuk-gi, a scholar from this region during the Joseon Dynasty, is located on a cliff. Gyeongcheondae was also used as a place to hold prayers for rain, and there is also a legend that the Joseon Dynasty general Jeong Ki-ryong obtained a dragon horse that came down from the sky. There remains a relic that Jeong Ki-ryong dug out of a rock and used as a feeding trough for horses. In Sangju, it is famous as a gathering place for scholars, and visitors such as Kim Sang-heon, Lee Yi-sik, and Lee Man-ryeo are said to have frequently visited it. From the observatory at Okjubong Peak, you can see Juheulsan Mountain (1,106m), Hakgasan Mountain, Nakdong River, and Baekhwasan Mountain at a glance in the distance.

In Gyeongcheondae, there is an observatory, an artificial waterfall, Gyeongcheondae Children's Land, and a campsite. When you reach the observatory through the cypress forest, you can enjoy the cool Nakdong River waterway and the surrounding scenery at a glance. The dense pine forest leading up to the observatory makes walking fun. It is a place with a great view of the river from the top of the cliff, where you can see the Nakdong River winding through curved pine trees and the strangely shaped rocks along the river. The hiking trail leading up to the observatory is made up of pine trees, making it suitable for forest bathing. There are many cultural assets nearby, including the tomb of King Jeonsabeol, the tomb of King Jeongoryeong Gaya, and Chungui Temple, which are designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do monuments. And in the fall of 2001, the set of the MBC drama “Sangdo” was built on the southern riverside of Gyeongcheondae, providing another attraction.
