The name Seungdalsan Mountain originated from the fact that during the reign of King Injong of the Goryeo Dynasty (1122), the monk Wonmyeong of the Yuan Dynasty climbed this mountain and greatly spread his religious influence, and about 500 disciples who came to visit him achieved enlightenment at once. There are many Buddhist historical sites such as Beopcheonsa Temple, Mokwuam Temple, and Chongjisaji Temple.

Hiking on Mt. Seungdal is a return-to-origin hiking course that starts from the main gate of Mokpo University, passes through Maebong~Gitbong~Harujae~Cheonjigol, and returns to the main gate. The most popular course is to go further south past Harujae, reach the summit, and then descend the western ridge toward the Mokpo University playground. On the other hand, if you go about 4km further along the road leading east from Guam, Cheonggye 1-ri, Muan-gun, you will come across Gamdon Reservoir. From here, you can also go north again through Wonyeong-dong village, go along Dalsan Reservoir, and follow the mountain path on the left towards Beopcheonsa Temple. .
