Muju-gun is an alpine region in Jeonbuk that contains Deogyusan National Park. Along with Jinan and Jangsu, Jeonbuk people also call these towns, the roof of Jeonbuk, ‘Mujinjang’. The eastern part of Muju-gun forms a border with Gimcheon-si in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Geochang-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do. The Sobaek Mountain Range lies between them. During the Three Kingdoms period, the eastern part of Muju-gun was also the border between Silla and Baekje.
