* Jinsan and Uamsan Mountain in Cheongju *

It is 353m high. It is the main mountain of Cheongju City and is also called Jangamsan Mountain, Daemosan Mountain, Muamsan Mountain, Wausan Mountain, and Dangisan Mountain. As its nickname, Wausan Mountain, has the shape of a cow lying down, it spans Myeongam-dong, Naedeok-dong, Uam-dong, Sudong, Daeseong-dong, Munhwa-dong, and Yongam-dong in Cheongju. Uamsan Mountain belongs to the Hannam Geumbukmaek Mountain Range that extends northwest from Cheonhwangbong Peak of Songnisan Mountain. The mountain ranges that extend to the east of Cheongju are Seondosan Mountain, Geotdaesan Mountain, Sangdangsan Mountain, and Gunyeosan Mountain. Among them, the 353.2m mountain that separates from Sangdangsan Mountain to the west is Uamsan Mountain.

Uamsan Mountain has long been called Wausan Mountain (臥牛). It is the true mountain of Cheongju, called by various names such as Daemosan Mountain, Moamsan Mountain, and Jangamsan Mountain. The forest is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees, and the mineral springs, ring road, and hiking trails are well maintained, so it is widely used as a resting place for citizens. There are many temples at the foot of the mountain, such as Pyochungsa Temple and Yonghwasa Temple, and near the summit is Wausanseong Fortress, which appears to be from the Three Kingdoms period. Wausanseong Fortress has a circumference of 1.587km in Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam, but in reality, the inner fortress is 2km and the outer fortress is 1,800km, totaling 3.8km. Now, it is in a state of great damage as private houses and agricultural land have increased around the castle.

During the reign of King Seonjo, Tojeong Lee Jiham was on Mt. Bubu, west of Cheongju. While looking at the topography of Mt. Uam, I discovered Myeongdanghyeol, which exudes a strong energy like that of a bull. If Uam Mountain as a whole has the shape of a cow sitting, its acupoint corresponds to the abdomen. After checking the place with his disciple Park Chun-mu, Tojeong set up a sign saying, 'This place is suitable for a general, so do not trespass' and left. Afterwards, a man named Jo Pung-su from Jincheon arrived at this place and pulled down the sign and attempted to relocate his ancestor's tomb. There was a loud thunder and the sound of a bellowing bull, a thick fog obscured the view, and the tomb turned into a black rock. I went blind.
