GANGWON-DO WEATHER
* Maehwasan Mountain (Gangwon), the mountain where immortals lived *
Maehwasan Mountain is a fairly high peak of 1,085m. The ridge continues from the top to the southwest and merges with Birobong Peak of Chiaksan Mountain, and faces Baekdeoksan Mountain to the east. It boasts a profound feminine beauty that contrasts with Chiaksan Mountain. Locals still call it Shinseonbong because it is said that a immortal person once lived here. Nearby are Chiaksan Mountain (Birobong Peak: 1,228m), Namdaebong Mountain (南臺峰: 1,182m), Baehyangsan Mountain (拜向山: 808m), and Satgatbong Peak (1,030m). There is Owon Reservoir on the northern bank, and the southern slope is the source of Jucheongang River. On the western shore, there are scenic spots such as Guryongsa Temple and Guryong Falls and a youth training center, which attracts many tourists. Transportation is convenient as the Yeongdong Expressway passes through the northern bank, the Jungang Expressway passes through the western bank, and city buses run between Wonju and Anheungri.

* Precautions when using Maehwasan Mountain *
