GANGWON-DO WEATHER
Sangwonsa Temple on Odaesan Mountain was built by Master Jajang during the reign of Queen Seondeok of Silla along with Woljeongsa Temple. It was rebuilt in the 4th year of King Seongdeok (705), but burned down in 1946 and was rebuilt in 1947. This temple preserves Korea's oldest bronze bell (national treasure), 1.67m high and 91cm in diameter, made in the 24th year of King Seongdeok's reign in Silla, and is famous for its beautiful sound. In addition, there is a statue of Munsu-dong, which is said to have been seen by King Sejo in person, and the Jungchang Gwonseonmun, a handwritten book written by King Sejo to rebuild Sangwonsa Temple. At the entrance to Sangwonsa Temple, there is a place called Gwangyeonggeol, which is also one of the legends of King Sejo related to Odaesan Mountain. One thing. One day, while King Sejo was praying at Sangwonsa Temple, the clear water of Odaecheon was so good that he was taking a bath alone. At that time, he asked a fellow passenger who was passing by to give him a push on his back. After finishing his bath, King Sejo told his companion, “Wherever you go, don’t say that you washed the king’s body.” The companion smiled and said, “Wherever you go, don’t say that you saw Manju Bodhisattva in person.” And then suddenly disappeared. King Sejo was surprised and looked around to find that his fellow monk was nowhere to be found and that the boils on his body had healed as if they had been washed. In this way, King Sejo, who had cured his incurable disease with Manju Bodhisattva's skin, was so moved that he called a painter to draw and carve the image of the fellow monk he had just met. The statue was carved, and this wooden statue is the statue of Munsu-dong of Sangwonsa Temple, and the place where the pipe was hung when taking a bath is the current pipe.
