It is the most famous rock of Seoraksan Mountain. Along the foot of the mountain, strangely shaped rocks reaching up to 900 meters above sea level are surrounded like a folding screen. Ulsanbawi consists of six peaks, and the view of the huge rocky mountain evokes wonder. It boasts a majestic appearance with a circumference of 4km, and when you reach the top, a panoramic view of Daecheongbong Peak and Oeseorak Mountain unfolds. Ulsan Rock is an outstanding scenic spot in itself, but the view from afar is just as spectacular. Records left by numerous poets and scholars of the Joseon Dynasty, including Choi Yeon and Heo Jeok, prove this. Ulsan Rock is also famous for several legends related to its name. One day, the sky god gathered all the peaks of the mountains to Geumgangsan Mountain to create the world's most scenic spot, but the heavy Ulsan Rock was late. It is said that Ulsan Rock, which he did not go to his hometown (Ulsan) out of shame, sat down while resting on Mt. Seorak. There is also a theory that it originated from its fence-like appearance or its nickname, “Crying Mountain.” Ulsan Rock can be climbed starting from the small park and passing through Sinheungsa Temple and Heunbawi Rock. At first, it starts with a gentle slope, but after passing Heunbawi Rock, steep rock hills and iron stairs continue. It takes about 4 hours for a round trip, and the difficulty is so high that it is difficult for children and the elderly to climb.
