화구 없는 오롯한 원뿔체(자그마한 피라미드형)로 정상부에는 소나무가 우거진 가운데 남서면에 풀밭이 있다.(작고 뾰족하며 둥글 게 생긴 봉우리를 회오리봉이라 했다.)
영아리오름과 기슭자락으로 이어지며 오름 주변은 삼나무가 조림되어 있고, 잡목이 무성하여 길을 찾기가 어렵다. 하늬바람이 많이 불어온다고하여 붙인 이름이다. 오름 북쪽 사면에 사람이 만들어 놓은 동굴이 있다.
